Marlins rained out in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Following a weather delay of nearly three hours, Wednesday’s doubleheader between the Morehead City Marlins and Fayetteville SwampDogs has been cancelled due to lightning in the area as well as poor field conditions. The teams were scheduled to play two seven-inning games.
To preserve the scheduled day off between the end of the regular season and the start of the Pettit Cup Playoffs, the doubleheader will not be rescheduled. The Marlins have now completed their season series with the SwampDogs, winning seven of 10 matchups against Fayetteville.
Morehead City returns to action tomorrow against the Columbia Blowfish at Capital City Stadium. Brent Powers will take the mound for the Marlins and the game is set to begin at 7:05.
The Morehead City Marlins are the newest member of the Coastal Plain League. The Coastal Plain League is the nation’s hottest collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 14th season, the Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
