    Wilmington, N.C. - - - For the second consecutive night, the Morehead City Marlins fell behind early and were unable to even the score in a 5-2 defeat to the host Wilmington Sharks from Buck Hardee Field at Legion Stadium Thursday evening. The Marlins drop their seventh straight game to the Sharks with Wilmington leading the season series 9-4.

The game entered a lightning delay after the conclusion of the sixth inning until the contest was officially called due to more inclement weather in the area.

    Miami, Fla. - - - Former Morehead City Marlin and Stanford University right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill ('14) has been selected to play in the Major League Baseball All-Star Futures Game this Sunday, July 9 from Marlins Park in Miami. The annual exhibition game features the top Minor League baseball prospects from the United States and a team of prospects from other countries in the World competing against each other in a nine inning contest. Quantrill will represent his home nation of Canada and play for the World team.

The MHC pitching staff held the Salamanders scoreless for six consecutive innings before the hosts posted the game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
