Weather Strikes Marlins on Second Consecutive Day

Morehead City, N.C.- The fourth matchup between the Morehead City Marlins (3-3) and Holly Spring Salamanders (5-4) comes to an end due to weather in the top of the forth.

Leo Perez (Texas A&M Corpus-Christi) got his first start of the season and retired the first six batters he faced.

However, in the bottom of the third Perez hit Ryan Guckin (LaSalle University) with the first pitch of the inning and then walked Jack Cucinotta (LaSalle University) on four pitches.

Perez would then strike out Cody Cline (Mars Hill College) but would turn exit the game in favor of Braden Scott (Indiana University).

Scott gave up a single to the first hitter he faced, David "Itchy" Burts (Texas A&M Corpus-Christi), to load the bases. Scott would bounce back getting Liam Hicks (Arkansas State) to strike out looking and John Michael Faile to fly out to center to get out of the jam.

In the top half of the fourth, the Marlin's centerfielder Jordan Schulefand (University of Richmond) led the inning off with a single to left field, and Jack Harris then drew a walk to put two runners on with no outs.

But spoiling the scoring opportunity was the weather as lighting and rain began around 7:30 p.m. and the game was put into a rain delay. After a two hour wait, the game was postponed and will be resumed on June 25th in Morehead City, where it will be picked up in the top of the fourth inning in a scoreless game with two Marlins on base and Camden Williamson to the plate.
