Marlins Drop Tough 4-3 Decision to Florence RedWolves

night, losing a heartbreaker 4-3 against the Florence RedWolves at Big Rock Stadium.

Jacob Hoyle gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead with a two-RBI single to right field with the bases loaded and two outs in the home half of the third inning. However, the Marlins had the bases loaded with nobody out and only scored two runs in the inning.

The RedWolves led by timely hitting and some Morehead City errors scored one run in the second, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take a 4-2 lead into the home half of the ninth. Sam Ott tried his best to keep the Marlins alive as he singled home Cole Billingsley who had tripled to left-center earlier in the inning. One run was all the Marlins could bring home in the ninth as they fell to the RedWolves 4-3.

Ben Fuchs suffered his second loss of the season, falling to 4-2 on the season. He allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings, while striking out five and walking four. Tyler Petsch and Jhon Peralta combined to shutout the RedWolves in the remaining innings. Alex Satterfield earned the win for the RedWolves. He tossed five innings, allowing just two runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked zero batters en route to the Florence Victory. Matt Campbell picked up his fourth save of the season, despite allowing one run in the ninth inning.

The Marlins are back at Big Rock Stadium Friday night as they host the Wilson Tobs. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM.
