Marlins Return Four Players

Morehead City, N.C. – As opening day is just two and a half months away, the Marlins are happy to announce the return of four players to the organization. Dario Santangelo, Aaron Stull, Drew Woodall and Corey Bass are all making their return to Morehead City for the second time around.

Dario Santangelo, a pitcher from East Carolina University, will take the mound again for the Marlins after posting a 3-5 record with a 5.04 ERA in nine appearances with the club last season. In 50 innings of work, the righty allowed just 42 hits and struck out 42 batters. Currently as a redshirt freshman for the Pirates, he has thrown three innings, striking out five batters in the process.

Also returning to the Marlins on the mound this season is local-product Aaron Stull, who is in his junior year with the University of Virginia. In Stull’s first go-around with the Marlins he notched a 1-1 record in eight games. Over 18 2/3 innings of work, the lefty posted a 4.82 ERA and allowed just nine hits.

Drew Woodall, a junior catcher from Charleston Southern University, returns after hitting .206 last summer for the Marlins. In 12 games, he knocked in one home run and also threw out three base-runners attempting to steal. The backstop is off to a hot start for the Buccaneers this season, hitting .308 through his first nine games.

Also returning behind the dish is Corey Bass. The junior from the University of North Florida last spent the summer in Morehead City in 2010 when he hit .123 in 28 games but nabbed 42 percent of base stealers. This season through nine games at UNF, Bass is hitting .250 with four RBIs.

“We expect all of our returning players to play an important role with us”, said Marlins general manager Chris Marmo. "They are a year older and can certainly be the players that our new guys lean on," Marmo said.
